CLEAR THE SPACE FROM CLUTTER
De-cluttering your home includes keeping a tidy and orderly space, free from unnecessary ‘stuff.' The master bedroom should be cleared of clothing, children’s toys, computers and television to ensure you get a good night's rest. Traditional Feng Shui even suggests that you should clear walls and surfaces of photos of family. The ancient tradition insists that the photos that feature in the bedroom should belong to the people who sleep there.

COLOUR YOUR BASES
According to the ancient wisdom, each colour communicates one of the five Feng Shui elements: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. The energy space or ‘Bagua’ of your home determines how to choose the right colours to bring harmony to your home. For example in your bedroom, avoid colours that are dark or bold. You want to be able to rise with ease in the morning and sleep well at night. Daring reds and striking blues aren't ideal for aiding sleep. However in communal areas, where you wish to bring calm and promote inner balance, using earthy and neutral tones are best.

IT'S ALL ABOUT POSITIONING
The position of your bed, the function of your home office and its general layout, play an integral role in attracting positive energy. The 3000 year old science suggests in the bedroom your bed should not sit in the direct path of the entrance as it lets positive energy escape. In each area of the home, it is important to have a focal point. Without a focal point, energy is emitted in all different directions.
DESIGN AND COMFORT
Unless you want to attract bad energy into your life, make sure you decorate your home with harmonious pictures and colours that are in agreement with peace, love and relaxation. The verve of your home isn't fixed, so be mindful of the feel of your home and how it affects your mood.
FENG SHUI YOUR HOME ROOM BY ROOM
The Entrance
A house with good Feng Shui will have a clear energy flow to its front door. Upon entry it should feel warm and inviting. If you have foliage, bins, or shoes that block the pathway to the entrance, the Feng Shui energy flow or ‘Chi’ will be blocked.
The kitchen
For those that spend a lot of time in the kitchen, its Feng Shui is important as a place to nourish and sustain life. The kitchen area needs to have a harmonious and well-organised layout to promote a balanced flow. This will in turn provide the cook of the home with a great space to work. Enriching your diet with good healthy nutrition will also add to kitchen’s positive the Feng Shui.

The bedroom
To rest peacefully, your bed should not sit in the direct path of the entrance. The exit should be in view while you sleep to make you feel safe and in control, but if it is in line with the door it can create bad energy along the mid-line of the body. You should also be able to access the bed from either side.
The main living area
Place your main couch against a solid wall and not against a window. This ensures you will maintain support in your life and not invite positive energy to leave, or cause opportunities to be missed.

DEFINE YOUR 'BAGUA'
Bagua is the Feng Shui energy map that records which area of your home is connected to specific parts of your life. In Chinese, the direct translation of Bagua is eight, and covers eight different elements in your home.
These show the location and colour of the different Feng Shui areas in your home and the life area attached to it.
It is currently debated whether the energy map should be flipped in the Southern Hemisphere, which hasn't been resolved. Arguments for flipping it include that the map was created in the Northern Hemisphere, while Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere. Arguments against flipping it include that no matter where you are in the world, north is always north, with the sun rising in the east.
