Starting in the kitchen, the beautiful lightwood benchtop teamed with white cabinetry instantly promotes an airiness, while still retaining a cosy charm. With plenty of bench space and a walk-in-pantry, the kitchen would be a hit for any budding master chef.
The living space incorporates the wooden look loved by all beach homes on another level. The stunning coffee table acts as a centrepiece, and the patterned armchairs add layer and depth to the space. Topped off with some greenery and ocean-inspired artwork, you’ll feel like you are right on the shoreline of the beach!
Nothing screams coastal more than light blue tiles! Following the style of the kitchen, the ensuite utilises more white and wooden textures. The stand-out feature is the double waterfall shower for a touch of luxury!
To do a coastal home right, you need to include an incredible alfresco to complete the indoor/outdoor experience. With large stacker doors, you’ll feel as though you are inside and outside simultaneously. Nautical stripes and a plunge pool complete the feel.

With so many different styles out there, it can be hard choosing one that works for you and fits in well with the rest of the house.
With this in mind, we have picked out a few of our favourite looks to help inspire you to create your very own beautiful bathroom!
ADD A FEATURE TILE: Bright, light and airy, choose an array of neutral whites and greys to make your bathroom glow. Small pot plants can also be used to help keep the space looking fresh and clean. Finish it off with a stunning feature tile that draws the eye, and you will have yourself one beautiful bathroom!
THE MODERN LOOK: A traditional white bathroom is no longer your only option; instead, opt for floor to ceiling tiles in adarker shade for a real contemporary look. A clear half-shower door and waterfall shower head adds a touch of luxury, as does the built-in shelf. We love this modern design!
DESIGN IS IMPORTANT: These days many ensuites and bathrooms do not have a separate space or room for your toilet. If this is important to you, consider a design where this is an option, or like this bathroom, have the basin in plain sight while the shower and toilet are hidden around the corner! Remember, functionality should always be a priority in your home, or you may find yourself resenting it!
DÉCOR MATTERS: Instead of a traditional mirror, why not choose something a little bit different? This round mirror is unique and helps lift a relatively plain looking bathroom. It also adds a softness to the space. Don’t neglect your tapware or fixtures either, they can make a surprising difference to the overall feel of the room.

A FREE-STANDING TUB: More and more popular these days, the free-standing bath is a great feature that creates a luxurious and opulent look in your bathroom. Set it up against a lovely tiled feature wall, and your beautiful bathroom will look even more incredible!
BE BRAVE: Don’t settle, be adventurous! If you want to create a bathroom that is uniquely yours, give anything and everything a go! Try adding some interesting feature tiles, change your towels to something bright that pops or include a crazy piece of décor you have always loved. Interior design is all about trying new things, so don’t be afraid to attempt something the world may not have seen yet!

Soothing and natural, it offers a peaceful and tranquil environment to live in.
A practical coastal interior is all about using smaller, beach-related items, without going overboard. Exposed wood, warm white colours, light coloured wooden flooring and bright yellows and blues will all create a contemporary design that looks and feels as though you are living in the beauty and luxury of the sea. We have shared some of our favourite beach homes, to help show you how to create the perfect interior.
White is so versatile it will never go out of style, and it goes with everything. If you own a white couch, you will never have to worry about your décor because you know it will match. You can change it as often as you like without consequence. White itself also has so many different shades – you will be spoilt for choice!
If you are worried about children or pets, white leather couches are easier to clean than you would think. It only takes a wipe to clean up spills, and even pen marks can be removed relatively easily.
If your living area is lacking in natural light, having light furniture is a simple way to brighten the room. As a larger piece of furniture, couches can have a significant effect on the entire room, so it only goes to follow that a white couch will greatly lighten the space!
White slips for your couches are a good alternative. Because they are washable, you will get the look you are after and be able to remove the slips to clean any spills or messes.
Children, pets, food and drinks are all dangerous for a white couch. Stains can be hard to remove from fabric, and you know the instant the couch enters the home it will never look as good as it did when you bought it.
Blue jeans will stain it. Be prepared for the dye to rub off on the couch.
You may consider white leather couches as a way to avoid your couches getting dirty, however, cracks in the leather are much more obvious in lighter colours than darker ones. It will age your couch prematurely.
Being comfortable in your home is important. Constantly having to check whether it is safe to sit down can become tedious, so if you want to relax and enjoy your home, white couches may not be for you.
At the end of the day purchasing a white couch should depend on your personal preferences. While it may not suit some lifestyles, if you are willing to put in the hard work keeping it clean there is no reason you shouldn’t purchase one. Remember, this is not a lifetime purchase!

In a previous post we spoke with Haymes Paint on how to achieve the perfect shade of white for your walls. The same principles apply here. Whites can be either warm or cool, depending on the undertones.
Warm whites have brown, yellow or red undertones and will do as the name suggests and ‘warm’ a room.
Cool whites have grey, blue or green undertones and offer a crisp, modern look. Decide which effect you would like and start searching for your interior furniture in the appropriate shades.
For the smooth and crisp effect of a cool white, pair it with sleek metals, plenty of mirrors and metallic décor. The danger around cool whites is they can appear dull, lifeless and sterile, so use your décor to counter this.
Use plenty of texture for a warm white room. Lace, wool or marble look amazing and romantic, and old furnishings can be distressed with white paint for a vintage theme. If your room is lacking warmth, layering is an effective solution. Ensure your window treatments, pillows, bedding, throws and any other décor work together harmoniously to create a multi-textured room.
Creating some contrast in your room is important to ensure the room does not look washed-out. Along with your furnishings, you will need to consider the natural textures of your wooden floors, carpets, stone benches and even appliances. These features can look rich and break up the starkness of a white room, so make sure you choose a white that will effortlessly match.
The advantage of a white on white interior is that you can showcase your personal taste without having to go all-out on a room. Consider displaying your favourite piece of art on a white wall, and all eyes will be drawn instantly to it. Just a splash of colour that reflects your personality will look fantastic without ruining the clean whites of your home.
Make it a worthwhile and attractive feature though, it will be noticed!

Warm whites have brown, yellow or red undertones. They range from beautiful warm greys and taupes to natural colours with hint of yellow.
These kinds of whites will warm your home and create a comfortable and soft mood.
Cool whites have grey, blue or green undertones and are better suited to homes that receive plenty of natural light to enhance their brightness.
They suit simple, modern homes where cleanliness is the focus.
‘White’ whites have little to no undertones, and what appears as pure white in one area may not seem be so in another.
Always be careful when using a pure white, it can appear sterile or uninviting in a home.
Once you have decided to go either warm and inviting, or cool and crisp, it is time to get some samples and start painting!
Haymes recommend you narrow your choices down to three colours, and then try them on a 1m x 1m piece of cardboard you can move and test around your house.
View your white in the morning, afternoon and evening so you can see how it changes. Check how your lighting may change the colour, and if you have existing furniture, assess which white best complements it.
