Home Design Trends

At Hotondo Homes our teams work with clients to find a home that will not only suit their needs, but will also suit the environment and their land specifically. Our builders have a strong knowledge of their local area and see emerging trends when it comes to popular home designs chosen in their specific region. We recently spoke to some of our builders to ask them what home design trends they’re seeing with clients – here’s what they had to say!

Hotondo Southcoast

Our team on the beautiful South Coast said they’re building a few Aon homes, and they’ve also seen a rise in the popularity of the Jamieson design, which is available in the 225, 250 and the 286 sizes. The Jamieson range is designed for families who love to entertain. The centrally located open-plan kitchen includes a walk-in-pantry and is situated next to the living area and dining space. This area flows out on to the alfresco for a true blend of indoor/outdoor living. With a spacious master suite at the front of the home, and three additional bedrooms nestled around the main living areas, plus a home theatre room, it’s easy to see why this home design is so popular with growing families.

Hotondo Homes Ballarat

The most popular designs the Ballarat team have been building lately are the Marcoola 209 and the Erskine 240 and 290.

The Marcoola 209 is a four bedroom home that offers great value for money for families wanting a bit more space. With an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, and a rumpus room all surrounding the spacious alfresco, this design creates a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends to spend time in together.

Our Erskine designs have the ideal layout for families wanting create an everyday lifestyle of indoor/outdoor living at the rear of the home. The kitchen features a large butler’s pantry behind it, and there’s ample dining and living space in front of the kitchen area that’s perfect for entertaining and family meals. Both the Erskine sizes feature a second versatile living room that can be used for more formal entertaining or as a rumpus area for the kids as they get older, making the home’s layout truly versatile for many stages of family life.

Hotondo South Morang

In South Morang, the team have seen a rise in demand for split level homes due to plenty of sloping land in the area. Clients are choosing to build the Hillgrove 246 and 267, and the Kalara 253 to take advantage of their blocks.

The Hillgrove 246 design features a master suite on the entry level creating a true parents’ retreat. Head to the lower level and you’ll find a generous open-plan kitchen, living and dining area plus a study nook. On the upper level there’s a rumpus area for the kids to enjoy, as well as three bedrooms and a family bathroom. The larger 267 design has an alternate layout with the bedrooms and rumpus area on the lower level, the master suite on the entry level, and the kitchen, living and dining area on the upper level, complete with a private study and a balcony to enjoy the views.

The Kalara 253 is another versatile design where clients can choose to have their bedrooms or kitchen and open-plan area on the ground floor depending on which layout best suits their land. Both versions of the design include a study space, a rumpus area and a private living room, making this perfect for large families who need more space.

All our home designs offer the option for you to modify the layout to suit your needs, and there are also a range of beautiful façade options to choose from, so you’re sure to find something that works with your block of land, and complements the neighbourhood and overall environment you build in.
