Celebrating a milestone for Make-A-Wish® Australia

Hotondo Homes has reached an incredible milestone with its fundraising efforts for charity partner Make-A-Wish® Australia, officially passing the $500,000 mark.

Make-A-Wish Australia brings thousands of volunteers, partners, suppliers and everyday Australians together to grant inspirational, life-changing wishes for critically ill children and their families.

“We’re incredibly proud of the impact we’ve had on the lives of so many children and their families across Australia,” said Hotondo Homes National Marketing Manager, Jodie Flower.

“This milestone is a celebration of the joy and amazing experiences Make-A-Wish has provided to many critically ill children and their families when they need it most.”

“It’s a cause we take great pride in supporting and are thankful to be part of this extraordinary community.”

Each year, thousands of Australian kids are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The charity’s mission is to grant the wish of every eligible child.

Wishes are designed to complement a child’s medical treatment, giving critically ill kids strength, hope, and joy.

For everyone involved, wishes have a remarkable, uplifting and positive impact that extends far beyond the wish itself.

Sally Bateman, CEO of Make-A-Wish Australia, said that with no government funding, Make-A-Wish Australia relies on the generosity of our partners and community supporters to make wishes come true.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of Hotondo Homes. Long-term partnerships are so important to our organisation and the $500,000 raised has made an incredible impact,” said Ms. Bateman.

“With Hotondo Homes’ on-the-ground support for wishes and ongoing financial support for our wish program, we have together been able to grant some incredible wishes for the critically ill kids of Australia.”

“It’s been a partnership we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s been amazing to see what this support has meant to our wish kids and their families.”

Hotondo Homes’ partnership with Make-A-Wish Australia began in 2014 and includes a long-term shared mission to create a real impact in the community.

“We wanted to give back to our community and as a family business building homes for families, we knew partnering with Make-A-Wish would be the perfect alliance,” said Ms. Flower.

“As two organisations with strong family values, our alignment has cultivated a powerful and meaningful partnership that we look forward to continuing to build upon for years to come.”

The Hotondo Homes network has helped many wishes come true for children through both direct funding and in-kind contributions. Building kennels, cubby houses and wishing wells, Hotondo Homes has raised a total of $552,429 since the partnership began.

“Whether it’s through our builders on the ground getting directly involved in bringing wishes to life, franchisees hosting their own local fundraising events or providing financial support, we’re committed to helping Make-A-Wish continue the powerful work they do and developing new and innovative ways to support the cause,” said Ms. Flower.

Having been part of the Australian community for more than 37 years, Make-A-Wish Australia has delivered over 10,000 wishes for sick kids. Right now, there are more than 900 children on a Wish Journey.

Established in 1979, Hotondo Homes is a national franchise network with local builders situated across Australia.
